What is this?

Decentralized organizing is a form of organization based on the idea of self-determination and distributed leadership. Rather than relying on hierarchical structures and centralized management, decentralized organizing encourages horizontal collaboration and collective decision-making. This is achieved by breaking processes into smaller elements and assigning ownership of them to individual actors, who are then empowered to lead. This can significantly improve communication, simplify coordination, and reduce power differentials. With decentralization, it becomes possible to shape an organization around the distributed skills, interests, and contributions of its members.
